  1. I would like to say that there are MULTIPLE gaps in the truth of this statement as I personally sat through everyday of the trial. As a close personal family member I would advise you to please get your facts straight before trying to gain support for the mastermind of this horrific crime. Thank you!

    1. Mastermind? Blade, a mastermind? It was Bennie who wanted to do this, not Blade. Yes, Blade was involved, and did a horrendous thing to Mrs. Voland. Blade is developmentally delayed, and his childhood hurt him a great deal. He does not belong behind bars, for 30 plus years, and now it will be even longer as he has an additional charge that was just added at the prison. Blade was 13 when arrested. 13 year olds do not belong in prison. Blade deserved rehabilitation, not wasting away, in a prison where he was and is not emotionally capable of dealing with what has happened to him. You and I obviously disagree. Blade should have received something age appropriate, which would have been a juvenile sentence, where he could have been held until 23. Now, he has no future, and no life, and will not when released. Mr. and Mrs. Voland, deserved better too, but to consider Blade the mastermind in this is not true.

  2. Blade was the one who on his own stole the gun from a summer cabin while Bennie was living in Bloomington. Blade is the only one of the brothers who had previous contact with Mr. Voland. He is the one who dug up the guns and moved them to his bedroom. Anyone else that was present at the time of a murder and slit someone's throat would have been charged with 2nd degree murder and attempted murder. Blade got off easy if you ask me. He will do this again if he is released from prison he will just find someone else to be his muscle. Bennie was just the muscle. Blade was the mastermind and based off all of the psychiatrist testomy and evaluations felt no remorse and will act this way again. You are speaking for someone without knowing all of the details. Yes it is a horrible tragedy that a young child wasted his life but even at an 8 year mentality he would no it is not right to steal, kill,or wound another person. Treatment would not help this deranged individual and would not ensure the safety of victims and their family.

    1. I cannot and will not give up on a child. If Blade was the mastermind, then there are many people who say differently, even Bennie himself. You can say treatment would not help, well do you know that for a fact? Try it before you down it. To not give a child a second chance is just wrong, and everything the psychiatrist said would happen to Blade, if he were to be sent to prison, has come true. I am saddened that this event happened, and that a vibrant couples lives were irrevocably altered, but Blade has been damaged by this too. This is just something we will have to agree to disagree on. Blade is a good kid, he deserved better. But the Volands did too.
